Description: This annotation layer has survey dimensions appoved by Massachusetts Land Court. These supercede any other dimensions. They are shown on the City of Cambridge Assessors parcel maps.
Description: This polygon layer contains all of the property parcels in Cambridge. Each parcel has a unique Map and Lot ID number that links it to a record in the Assessing Department's Vision database system.
Description: City of Cambridge, MA, GIS basemap development project encompasses the land area of City of Cambridge with a 200-foot fringe surrounding the area and Charles River shoreline towards Boston. The basemap data was developed at 1" = 40' mapping scale using digital photogrammetric techniques. Planimetric features; both man-made and natural features like vegetation, rivers have been depicted. These features are important to all GIS/mapping applications and publication. A set of data layers such as Buildings, Roads, Rivers, Utility structures, 1 ft interval contours are developed and represented in the geodatabase. The features are labeled and coded in order to represent specific feature class for thematic representation and topology between the features is maintained for an accurate representation at the 1:40 mapping scale for both publication and analysis. The basemap data has been developed using procedures designed to produce data to the National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA) and is intended for use at 1" = 40 ' mapping scale. Where applicable, the vertical datum is NAVD1988.
Description: This layer contains polygons that split the City of Cambridge into 286 city blocks. Each block boundary is associated with an Assessors map, and a group of parcels. Each individual parcel has a map and lot associated to it. The 'map' refers to one of these blocks, the 'lot' is the tax parcel within the block.

Description: This layer contains lines showing how parcels were historically divided in the Assessor's database, where two or more lots were merged into a single parcel. When the layer was originally created, it was used to illustrate lots that were owned and used in common and were combined to form a "main lot" for valuation purposes. More recently, any parcels that are merged trigger the creation of a sited parcel line to retain a historical record of the original parcel boundaries. Historical parcel IDs can be found in the "Supplemental Data" area in the assessing database.

Description: The FIRM is the basis for floodplain management, mitigation, and insurance activities for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Insurance applications include enforcement of the mandatory purchase requirement of the Flood Disaster Protection Act, which "... requires the purchase of flood insurance by property owners who are being assisted by Federal programs or by Federally supervised, regulated or insured agencies or institutions in the acquisition or improvement of land facilities located or to be located in identified areas having special flood hazards," Section 2 (b) (4) of the Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973. In addition to the identification of Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHAs), the risk zones shown on the FIRMs are the basis for the establishment of premium rates for flood coverage offered through the NFIP. The FIRM Database presents the flood risk information depicted on the FIRM in a digital format suitable for use in electronic mapping applications. The FIRM Database serves to archive the information collected during the Flood Risk Project.

Description: Product: This data set includes flight lines that map the flight paths used in the acquisition of 0.15 meter, 16-bit 4-band (RGB-IR) orthoimagery.Geographic Extent: 29 counties in Massachusetts (and surrounding states), covering approximately 8876 total square miles.Dataset Description: The Massachusetts Statewide Orthoimagery project called for the planning, acquisition, processing, and derivative products of imagery data to be collected at a ground sample distance (GSD) of 0.15 meter. Project specifications are based on the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) standards. This flightline data set was created to identify the flight paths used to collect data for the Massachusetts Statewide 2023 Orthoimagery Project. This dataset derives information from the exterior orientations to provide true flight paths.Ground Conditions: Imagery was collected in spring 2023, while no snow was on the ground and rivers were at or below normal levels.
